Just Another Struggling Writer

The lamentations of yet another person struggling to write a novel.

Content Creation

Hello friends and welcome to another suggestible edition of Just Another Struggling Writer. I’m just another struggling writer.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about my goals as a content creator. For a long time, I was satisfied with just keeping to myself and occasionally blogging my way through my writing process. However, as I’ve started to get more comfortable and as my mental health has improved, I’ve been feeling like… I can offer so much more to our community of writers.

Looking for Feedback

Okay, maybe that’s wishful thinking. But I would like to put something back into the ecosystem that has given me so much. I just don’t know what approach to take. Is that more formal book reviews? Friendly flash fiction competitions? Manuscript feedback? Personal essays regarding hot topics in the writing community? Yet another writing podcast? All or none of the above?

So, I’m reaching out to my friends across the community for their feedback. What do you wish you could see added to the online writing community? What kinds of writing-related content do you like to consume? How do you think I could best contribute?

I am open to suggestions and discouragement. Yes, you read that right. I do not want to dive into any new venture blindly. If you think I should focus on my current endeavors rather than throwing more content out there into the ether, I will definitely take that under advisement. Encouragement is welcome too, but I’m not here to have sunshine blown up my britches.

With that said, this is your space. Tell me what kind of content you as a member of the writing community most like to see. What do you wish there was more of? What kind of content do you feel is oversaturated? I’ve got my own opinions but I’m here for your takes. Lay it all on me.

That’s really all I’ve got today. I’m here to listen and learn and get ideas. Like I said before, expanding my content is more about trying to give back to the community. If you’ve got suggestions on how I can best do that, I’m all ears. Until next time my friends! May your writing be plenty and your struggles be few.

  1. Well, this is the first post of yours that I’ve read, so I’m not really sure what advice to give, but I’ll try. Personally, I like spoiler-free book reviews from those who have similar reading taste to myself. But I like a lot of other types of posts, too, and I think the only thing that’s really important is that you write about whatever you’re passionate about. If you’re passionate, it’ll show, and you’ll probably also be motivated to continue because you’ll be enjoying it a whole lot more. But good luck whatever you decide!

    1. Thanks Shannon for stopping by and double thanks for your feedback! I really appreciate you taking the time to help a stranger out! I have been thinking a lot about book reviews for the last few weeks. It seems like a really popular option, so I would like to bring something new to the table. Thanks again so much for your feedback!

About Me

Kerry Share’s love for writing started, as it so often does, as a love of reading at an early age. At age 11 she wrote her first short story, a Harry Potter knockoff of dubious quality, and her love for creative expression was born. Throughout her teen years she continued to foster that passion through derivative work, and at 23 she turned her eye to original fiction.

Now in her thirties, having taken a break from creative endeavors to cope with an ever changing life and landscape, she is determined to make her dream of a writing career reality.
