Trope-Day: MacGuffin Super-Person
Happy Trope-Day everyone! I had a lot of fun with last week’s featured trope, Evil Sounds Raspy. It was a good reminder that tropes aren’t these horrible things to avoid in your writing, they should be embraced, subverted, inverted, played straight, and lampshaded. Tropes are a part of writing and pretending otherwise is only going… Continue reading
Monday Motivations; Inertia
Hello friends and welcome to another wanton week of writing. I used to love Mondays. Strange, I know. But, to me, they always represented a new beginning. A new chance to do something great. The start of a new chain, a new streak. A new door to walk through if I had but the courage… Continue reading
WIP Wednesday; What Kind of Story Do I Want to Write?
Hello friends! With all the blogging I’ve been doing lately, I realized that I didn’t have a dedicated space to talk about what writing projects I’m actually working on. That, plus the fact that I am more motivated to finish projects the more public accountability I have, led to me to dedicate the Wednesday slot… Continue reading
Shareable Saturday: Baby’s First Worksheet
Hello friends and welcome to the latest addition to my blogging lineup: Shareable Saturdays. In this space I will share resources, be that reading material, videos, podcasts, or even writing programs that I think my fellow writers might find useful. For this first edition, I’d like to share a writing worksheet that I actually made… Continue reading
Monday Motivations; Be Your Own Cheerleader
Hello friends and welcome to another wishful week of writing. Friends, I’ll admit it: the time change last week kicked my ass. Every day I got home from work feeling absolutely wiped. I ended up spending a lot of time in bed (well, even more so than usual) and procrastinated on my weekly writing tasks.… Continue reading
The Unwealthy Writer
Today, I’m going to talk about something perhaps a little on the taboo side: the disparity between writers of means and writers who live with financial insecurity. Continue reading
Monday Motivations; Defogged
Hello friends and welcome to another willful week of writing. I am pleased to report that I am finally starting to feel more like myself again, as the fog of this recent depressive episode has started to lift. While I’m grateful my medicine has mitigated the worst of my brain chemistry’s fuckery, it is still… Continue reading
Monday Motivations; Refocus
Hello friends and welcome to another weighty week of writing. Friends, last week I did not get a whole lot of writing done. You may have even noticed that the blog was quieter than usual. A brief but disruptive mental health hiccup nears the brunt of the blame, though the argument could be made that… Continue reading
Am I Even Still A Writer
Hello friends and welcome to another distracted edition of Just Another Struggling Writer. I’m just another struggling writer. Friends, the last seven days have been busy. A good kind of busy, but also a holy-hell-I’m-tired kind of busy. A this-might-be-my-life-for-the-foreseeable future kind of busy. After last week’s public plea seeking feedback on what creative content… Continue reading
Monday Motivations; Spite Writing
Hello friends and welcome to another winning week of writing. Friends, I’m feeling petty today. I got some news last week that shouldn’t bother me, but does. It was a stark reminder that I am not quite at the place in my life that I would like to be. Though there are some circumstances outside… Continue reading
Kerry Share’s love for writing started, as it so often does, as a love of reading at an early age. At age 11 she wrote her first short story, a Harry Potter knockoff of dubious quality, and her love for creative expression was born. Throughout her teen years she continued to foster that passion through derivative work, and at 23 she turned her eye to original fiction.
Now in her thirties, having taken a break from creative endeavors to cope with an ever changing life and landscape, she is determined to make her dream of a writing career reality.
